Jurassic Park is one of my favourite films of all time. Given the impact that Steven Spielberg has had on the world of movies, it is no small feat that this film ranks near the top of his resume. Continue reading

The Jungle Book (1967)
Ben
For the longest time I thought The Jungle Book came out in the 1980s because I saw it in theatres when I was a kid. It was only a few years ago that I realised this was actually so much older than that (1967 to be precise). The idea of re-releasing a film in theatres was foreign to six year old Ben. Continue reading
Jurassic Park III (2001)

If Jurassic Park taught us anything, it was that “life finds a way” (Also, to always pay the guy who controls everything as much as he wants.). Jurassic Park III teaches us that Hollywood finds a way… of ruining perfectly good movies by making half-baked sequels. Continue reading
The Lost World: Jurassic Park (1997)

For Christmas our eight year old nephew asked for “all the seasons of Jurassic Park,” and we of course obliged. Two days later he came up to me wanting to discuss The Lost World. He liked it, but was concerned that so few of the original cast returned. Continue reading
Jurassic Park (1993)

Jurassic Park is probably the most contentious film in my parents’ household. When this was released in 1993, my mom discussed the movie with her sister after she had watched it, and decided it would not be appropriate for my sister and I, both under the age of 10, to watch for a few reasons (scary dinosaurs, people getting eaten, gender swapping, etc.). My sister and I were disappointed, but the battle over Jurassic Park was far from over. Continue reading
Juno (2007)

Juno is one of these movies that received heaps of praise when it was released and also struck a chord with audiences. I get it, this movie is so different than the other teen comedies being made at the time. Continue reading
Jumper (2008)

Jumper is all style and no substance. This movie takes a cool idea– people with the ability to teleport are being stalked by a government entity who seeks to kill them– and does pretty much nothing with it. Continue reading
Jumanji (1995)

I’ve always loved Jumanji. Not only is it based on a book by Chris Van Allsburg, my favorite children’s book illustrator, it’s also a lot of fun and full of non-stop action. This was a movie that easily captured my attention as a kid, and is still enjoyable to watch now. Continue reading
Journey to the Center of the Earth (2008)

What happened to you, Brendan Fraser? You used to be hot shit, if not an A-list celeb than a solid B-list guy. Now you’re doing so-so movies like Journey to the Center of the Earth and hoping someone decides to resurrect The Mummy series. Continue reading
Josie and the Pussycats (2001)
IMDb
Sally
Let’s not kid ourselves: Josie and the Pussycats is terrible. This is an embarrassingly late 90s/early 2000s movie that has not aged well. That said, it’s kind of brilliant in a weird way. Though it’s underlying cleverness is too clever for its target audience. Continue reading
