The real problem with this film is that it is instantly forgettable. There are great actors involved in Beginners, but even they couldn’t save me from feeling very let down after watching this. Continue reading

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016)

I think the best way to describe this film is disappointing. Putting two of the most iconic heroes on the big screen together for the first time should have been an easy home run. It isn’t though. Continue reading
Bridget Jones’s Diary (2001)
Ben
This is the movie that ended up becoming more about Renee Zellweger’s yo-yoing waistline than the actual movie. The movie is actually not that bad. This was one of Sally’s films recently brought over by her visiting parents which is why we are watching it late. Continue reading
Love & Sex (2000)
Sally
This rom-com was so boring. Granted, I’m not a huge fan of the genre as a whole, but I can appreciate a well done romantic comedy. I’m also not really a fan of either Famke Janssen or Jon Favreau, but again, they’ve each played some great roles. However, Love & Sex is not a good rom-com, and Janssen or Favreau are not playing good characters. Continue reading
Bad Neighbours/ Neighbors (2014)

When Ben and I went to see Bad Neighbours in the theater (That’s the title in Australia, which I actually think better describes the movie than the US title Neighbors.) I noticed something odd. Continue reading
The Brady Bunch Movie (1995)

This is one of the best movie adaptations of a television show ever made. No, seriously. This is a terrific movie. It perfectly captures the spirit of the original sitcom, while still poking fun at the TV show. There’s a lot of fun to be had here. Continue reading
Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure (1989)

Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure is a recent addition to our collection, so we are reviewing it now. Sally and I were both fond of this film growing up, and wanted to see if it still held up. It is a very silly movie, but has an undeniable charm thanks to good performances from the two leads, Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter (whatever happened to him? Couldn’t Keanu throw him a bone with a speaking part in The Matrix or something?). Continue reading
The Breakfast Club (1985)
We watched this movie out of order to accommodate a new guest reviewer. This happens to be Tonia’s favorite movie, so it was worth the wait! Continue reading
The Butler (2013)
Sally
I’ve called out historical inaccuracies in movies before, the most glaring of which comprise almost the entirety of Braveheart. So I’d be remiss to not point out that The Butler is also an inaccurate representation of its real life inspiration. Continue reading
The ‘Burbs (1989)
Sally
This isn’t one of Tom Hank’s best comedies, in my opinion. Of course, I didn’t grow up in the suburbs, so maybe some of the humor was lost on me. I prefer small town wackiness, that stuff is hilarious. Continue reading
