I had never seen this film before watching it for the blog. Mulan was one of Sally’s DVDs she added to the collection. Continue reading

Monsters vs. Aliens (2009)
Ben
There is a lot to like about this animated movie about monsters, despite the fact there is zero involvement from either Disney or Pixar in its production. I do think Dreamworks animation is one of the more underrated animation houses. Continue reading
The Jungle Book (1967)
Ben
For the longest time I thought The Jungle Book came out in the 1980s because I saw it in theatres when I was a kid. It was only a few years ago that I realised this was actually so much older than that (1967 to be precise). The idea of re-releasing a film in theatres was foreign to six year old Ben. Continue reading
Monsters University (2013)
Ben
I feel like Pixar may have missed the boat a little bit with this prequel to the fantastic Monsters, Inc. It is always a bit risky releasing a follow up so long after the original, and while Monsters University is still a lot of fun, it does fail to recapture the magic of the original. Continue reading
Monsters, Inc. (2001)
Ben
This is up there with my favourite Pixar films of all time. I am constantly surprised by Pixar’s ability to stay fresh in a genre that is so often unoriginal. No film studio has a success strike rate like Pixar and I am constantly surprised at the way they is able to keep producing quality films over and over again. Continue reading

I had never really watched this movie properly, but it was pretty entertaining. Most of the laughs come from the hilarious assortment of supporting characters though, not the main foursome. Continue reading
Looney Tunes: Back in Action (2003)
IMDb
Sally
Any kid who grew up in the 1990s will no doubt have fond memories of the Looney Tunes. Thanks to the mega successful Space Jam, Bugs Bunny and friends had a sort of renaissance. The Looney Tunes were everywhere– on clothing, school supplies, television. Continue reading
The Lion King (1994)

Sally
Controversial opinion: I think The Lion King is a tad overrated. I remember being so into this movie when it was released, but have fallen out of love with it over successive viewings. This is not to say that The Lion King is not a good movie. It’s definitely in the top ten of Disney’s best feature films. I’m just saying that it’s not the best animated feature the studio has made. Continue reading
Lilo & Stitch (2002)

Sally
I’d only watched Lilo & Stitch once before this, and didn’t remember liking it much. It was fun, but I didn’t get that Disney feeling like I do watching something like Beauty & the Beast or Sleeping Beauty. But on second viewing I see that this is a bit of an overlooked gem in the Disney catalogue. Continue reading
The Lego Movie (2014)

When I heard that The Lego Movie did not get nominated for Best Animated Feature at this year’s Academy Awards, I was angry. Like, really angry. Animated Feature is typically the only category I really give a crap about, because I feel like I’ve spent my entire life becoming an expert in animated films. Continue reading
