Ant-Man (2015)
Sally
To say that I was not sold on the concept of Ant-Man when Ben first mentioned the character is an understatement. It took me months to get on board with Guardians of the Galaxy when it was announced, what with its talking raccoon and walking tree. Continue reading
Jurassic World (2015)
Ben
Jurassic Park is one of my favourite films of all time. Given the impact that Steven Spielberg has had on the world of movies, it is no small feat that this film ranks near the top of his resume. Continue reading
Top Ten 2017
It’s that time of year again! Here are our top ten movies released in theaters this year.
As with previous years, we only consider movies we actually saw in theaters between 1 January and 31 December. And just to throw a spanner in the works, we go off Australian release dates.
Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens (2015)
Ben
When Lucasfilm was purchased by Disney in 2012 and announced there were new Star Wars films coming, it’s safe to say that I was excited. I was finally going to get new Star Wars films, something I thought was over when Episode III was released in 2005. Continue reading
Star Wars: Episode VI – Return of the Jedi (1983)

The last movie in the first Star Wars trilogy gets a bad rap in my opinion. People complain about Ewoks, just as they did about Jar Jar Binks, and while they are annoying, they don’t detract from the good aspects of this film to make it terrible. Continue reading
Star Wars: Episode V – The Empire Strikes Back (1980)
Ben
When I think about The Empire Strikes Back, the most common thought that enters my head is how this is the best movie from the best movie series of all time. There’s so much more to it than that, but that statement alone should give you an idea where this review is heading. Continue reading
Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope (1977)
Ben
So I think it is pretty much assured that this movie is going to get an A+from me. It’s not my favourite film in the series (that is coming up next), but it is still one of the finest world building films of all time.

Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith (2005)
Ben
People may bicker over the perceived issues with Episode I and II, but I think generally, most people agree that Episode III is easily the high point of the prequel trilogy. People are right. Of all the prequels, Revenge of the Sith is the one that feels the most like a Star Wars film and also manages to bridge the gap between the prequels and the original trilogy. Continue reading
Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones (2002)
Ben
I will defend The Phantom Menace to just about anyone. I think it is unfairly maligned as the poster boy of George Lucas and his terrible prequel trilogy. The main reason I will always defend it is because Episode II is by far the weaker movie. Even I can admit that this movie has considerable flaws sometimes making it border on unwatchable. Continue reading
